Group Leader On-Call

Responsible for facilitation of youth groups and adults to ensure quality outcomes, permanency of children placed in adoptive homes. 

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establishes rapport and effective working relationship with clients to effectively and  successfully assist them through the adoption process.
  • Responsible for assigned groups' set curriculum; identifying additional essential needs/services and communicating to coordinator; following up, as necessary.
  • In collaboration with other group facilitators, conduct Adoption Education and Support Groups and group meetings during traditional business hours and on evenings and weekends.
  • Ensures completion and timely submission of required documentation; including case notes, documenting clients' progress, goals and objectives.
  • Maintains materials, books, and other resources that are up-to-date for providing age appropriate adoption education; and consistent with development needs.
  • Develops/improves group facilitating skills; through reading, participation in seminars and other educational opportunities, and personal contacts in the field.
  • In collaboration with other group facilitators, conduct Adoption Education and Support Groups and group meetings during traditional business hours and on evenings and weekends.

  • Maintains knowledge of program standards and policies developed by Five Acres, licensing and other governing bodies.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding children, families and operations.

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Counseling or a closely related field.
  • Prior 2 years social services experience, preferably with a similar client base, preferred.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of contemporary training techniques for children; prior teaching experience, desired.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff.
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written.
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a changing environment.
  • Must have a valid California Driver License, proof of automobile insurance and meet the Agency's safe driver guidelines.
  • Computer skills sufficient to meet production demands of the job including Microsoft Office and routine research database software. 
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
