Training Specialist 2

Essential Duties 

  1. Deliver training programs to ensure compliance with various regulation and licensure entities, including but not limited to New Employee Orientation, Pro-ACT (Professional Assault Crisis Training), Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) trainings, Child and Family Teaming, First Aid/ CPR, and other training as required.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and application of adult learning theories to facilitate optimum learning environment. Use effective oral communication skills to articulate key concepts and learning objectives. Engage participants in Instructor led group discussions, while accurately reframing and responding to questions and concerns regarding subject matter.
  3. Work in partnership with stakeholders, Subject Matter Experts, and Program Manager in identifying training needs, planning/developing training content/curriculum, selecting appropriate training methods, materials, and scheduling specialized training programs. Produce and prepare all training related materials (handouts, instructional material, aids, and manuals) needed for instruction.
  4. Review, monitor, gather outcomes and evaluate training effectiveness and ensure fidelity to the various training models and programs, via post class assessment survey, feedback and results of key outcome measures. Assign individual training curriculum based on needs assessment and programmatic needs. Collaborate with staff and leadership on strategies for improvement.
  5. Lead Instruction of Professional Assault Crisis Training (Pro-ACT). Demonstrate proficient use of the Pro-ACT Principles. Transfer working knowledge of crisis response and the use of verbal and physical de-escalation techniques to promote client and staff safety. Use Pro-ACT Standard evaluation tools as a measurement for evaluating staff competency and Principle application. Lead debriefing workshops (Grand Rounds) and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  6. Provide limited/time specific individualized training and coaching for STRTP staff and other designated programmatic staff as needed, to ensure effective transfer of knowledge in identified areas. Assist staff in mastering skills; and ensure the areas of improvement are being provided to supervisory staff for monitoring.
  7. Identify future learning interventions by assessing and evaluating staff performance and concerns, providing support in handling emerging challenges in client care.
  8. Maintain orderly up-to-date training requirements of staff, as required by agency policy. Attendance records and required documentation submitted in a timely fashion to the Training team for tracking.
  9. Assist the training department in maintaining information systems, including Relias, CIV, CANS Training Site, department shared drive, training department website, and HelpDesk.
  10. Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families and Agency operations.
  11. Exercises good judgment in the performance of duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of work experience in a social service/mental health related field, preferred
  • Demonstrated training skills, preferably in a social service/mental health related environment with prior experience in training staff working in direct service, clinical, and supervisory jobs, preferred.
  • Experience creating curriculum preferred.
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Knowledge of the child welfare/mental healthcare programs
  • Strong project management skills, including use of project management software preferred
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of contemporary training techniques for adults
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written in order to teach and speak in public as well as prepare training documents, write comprehensive reports, and similar.
  • Must have a valid California Driver License, proof of automobile insurance and meet the Agency's safe driver guidelines.
  • Computer skills sufficient to meet production demands of the job including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work effectively independently as well as part of a team.

Compensation Range: $24.90/hr - $38.59/hr
