Systems Network Engineer

Essential Duties

  1. Building, configuring, and maintaining the networked computer system, including server hardware, system software, and applications for high operability according to best practices.
  2. Monitoring, documenting, and thoroughly testing data backup regiment following 3-2-1 strategy and HIPAA security standards
  3. Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, networking, and system issues efficiently, effectively, and proactively.
  4. Architecting infrastructure design for security and redundancy, rollout planning, and implementation for upgrading defective or outdated infrastructure and patch management
  5. Researching, planning, and recommending new approaches to improve the performance and enhance device, network and systems security.
  6. Actively collaborates with team and stakeholders in addressing and preventing bottlenecks, degradation in service quality and patterns of systemic issues.
  7. Updating policies and procedures which agency employees need to adhere according to HIPAA security practices on systems and network.
  8. Creating and maintaining system design and topology documentation for accuracy reflecting current environment.
  9. Maintaining technical knowledge in network best practices with a focus on security. Sharing and preaching latest server, systems, applications, and techniques.
  10. Audits existing team time wasters and creates workflow automation where effectively possible.
  11. Analyses current network operations and creates workflow automation when possible.
  12. This is completed through written automation scripts, creating deployment packages, creating group policies and looking at new automation techniques/tools that can work. Methods for automation is up to the Engineer's determination.

Qualifications

  • A degree in computer science, IT, engineering or related qualification
  • Minimum certifications: Microsoft and CCNA certifications
  • Optional certifications: virtual environment
  • 3 years of experience administering virtual environments
  • LAN and WAN experience
  • A focus on systems and network security.
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches and phone systems
  • Familiarity with various backup technologies for 3-2-1 backup strategies
  • Familiarity with SQL systems administration and database operations
  • Ability to prioritize a wide range of workloads with critical deadlines
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Patient and professional demeanor, with a can-do attitude
  • Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions
  • Detail-oriented maintaining accurate diagrams and documentation
  • Resourceful with an ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization.
  • A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Dependable and flexible when necessary.

Compensation Range: $72,760/yr - $118,467/yr
