Research Assistant

RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Responsible for performing various research support duties including program review support; maintaining computer files/database and tracking system; administering assessments, surveys and interviews;  and other activities.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists in planning and completion of Five Acres research and program evaluation projects to support agency operations and continuous quality improvement (CQI).  
  • Participates in development of data collection and record keeping systems for Research Department.  Maintains computer files containing client and program data.
  • Provides support to agency outcome measurement activities, including scoring and distributing client assessments to appropriate staff, and entering data into required online systems. 
  • Maintains working relationships with Five Acres departments to gather information and carry out research and evaluation projects. Represents Five Acres Research Department in an official capacity at meetings, as assigned.
  • Develops skills in data mining from Five Acres information systems. Creates and maintains spreadsheets and other databases for statistical analysis of agency data.
  • Conducts data analyses and creates user-friendly data dashboards summarizing results of statistical analyses.
  • Develops proficiency in administering assessments, surveys and interviews, as assigned.
  • Develops proficiency in software applications utilized by the Research Department, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), SPSS, SurveyMonkey, TOAD Data Point, and Welligent.
  • Performs internet and/or library research, and does directed reading, as assigned. Takes part in training as needed to develop and maintain research skills. 
  • Demonstrates ability to meet deadlines for assigned tasks. 

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • BA degree or near completion in Psychology or related social science field.
  • Prior research or program evaluation experience required.
  • A working knowledge of routine social science research methods in a human services environment. 
  • Effective organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in software applications utilized by the research department including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), SPSS, R, and internet preferred.
  • Proficiency in Oracle SQL, Microsoft Access SQL, VBA programming language (preferred).
